Hypnotherapy & Neuro-Linguistic Programming

Having trained in both Clinical Hypnosis and NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming), I typically use a combination of techniques from each of these modalities when working with clients. Increasingly recognised worldwide for the benefits that can be obtained for a variety of medical and non-medical conditions; Hypnotherapy and NLP can effectively assist in overcoming issues to regain a sense of control in your life and help you to feel lighter and happier.

Issues I treat in my practice with a combination of Hypnotherapy & NLP include:

  • Stress management
  • Anxiety and Panic attack
  • Insomnia & sleep related problems
  • Stop smoking
  • Phobias & Fears
  • Depression
  • Past Trauma
  • Sexual abuse
  • Self esteem & confidence
  • Exam stress & study habits
  • Habits – skin picking, nail biting
  • Noise sensitivity
  • Performance Anxiety & public speaking
  • Sports motivation
  • Pain control
  • Weight reduction & poor eating habits
  • Driving problems
  • Anger management
  • Irritable Bowel Syndrome
  • Sexual dysfunction
  • Tinnitus
  • Bedwetting

Traumatic Events that I commonly work with include:

  • Motor vehicle accidents
  • Domestic violence
  • Assaults
  • Burglaries
  • Bush fire events
  • Rape events
  • Sexual abuse
  • Workplace Bullying & Sexual harassment
  • Situations such as near-drownings
  • School bullying etc

For many years in NZ, I specialised in Post-traumatic stress resolution, receiving regular referrals from GPs and client self referrals and in Melbourne I continue this work. I find these techniques particularly effective in this area with clients reporting major shifts in their emotions around events.

Number of sessions

This depends on the issue being treated. Typically I say allow for 3 appointments, some issues may take a couple more. For a stop smoking programme, I allow for 2 consultations.

Length of appointment

Each appointment is 1 hour & 15/20 minutes approximately. If you are travelling a considerable distance to see me, I allow for a 2 hour appointment.

Fees

As I’m a Clinical Member of Australian Hypnotherapy Association, you may be able to claim rebate from your Health Insurance if your policy covers Hypnotherapy undertaken by a therapist who is NOT a registered psychologist. Please check your policy.

A typical First Session begins with full discussion & exploration of the issue that is affecting you, the outcomes or goals you want, and then we discuss how I’ll be working with you and the use of Hypnotherapy during the first and subsequent sessions.
